Selling 3D Prints on Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Amazon Handmade and Vinted: Rules and Fees

Last checked: Oct 2026. General information, not legal advice. A marketplace account is not a license to the design. That still comes from you, or from a designer who offers a merchant license.

Quick answer. Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Amazon Handmade, and Vinted do not share one rule for 3D prints. eBay.com publishes a most-categories fee you can price from. Amazon Handmade requires an approved maker and a handcrafted classification, and its program page does not say a 3D print qualifies. Vinted's catalog rules bar items made specifically to sell. Meta's checkout terms publish a US shipped-sale fee. Where a number was not on the page, this guide says so.

What a merchant license in this directory allows, including Etsy and conventions, is a different checklist: selling 3D prints on Etsy and at conventions. Some listings name a marketplace and then forbid it. Read the listing before you open the shop.

Facebook Marketplace

Meta's Onsite Checkout Payments terms, updated September 23, 2025, list selling fees for payments a buyer makes through Meta's checkout. For a business established in the US, the Marketplace line is 10% of the total transaction value, with a minimum fee of $0.80. The same line says the sale of goods which are shipped together is what the fee is calculated on. The UK line on that table is 2%. Thailand points at a different FAQ. Brazil and Singapore are listed as no fees.

That page is about checkout payments. It does not publish a fee for a local pickup you arrange in messages and get paid for outside Meta's checkout. It also does not say that 3D prints are a special category. If shipping checkout is not offered on your account, do not assume the US 10% applies. Open the checkout terms for the country where the account is established.

The right to sell the object is still the designer's license, or your own design. How merchant licenses work is the directory version of that.

eBay

eBay.com's selling-fees page says there are two main fees: an insertion fee when you list, and a final value fee when the item sells. The amount depends on price, format, category, optional upgrades, and seller performance. Store subscribers, vehicle sales, and eBay Live use different pages. This summary is the basic page, checked in October 2026.

  • Up to 250 zero-insertion-fee listings each month. After that, the most-categories row is $0.35 per listing. A second category on the same item is another insertion fee.
  • Most categories: 13.6% of the total amount of the sale up to $7,500, calculated per item, then 2.35% on the portion over $7,500.
  • Per order: $0.30 when the order is $10.00 or less, and $0.40 when it is over $10.00. An order is items the same buyer checks out together with the same shipping method.
  • The total amount includes the item price, handling, shipping collected from the buyer (with the exceptions the page lists), sales tax, and other applicable fees.

Books and magazines, movies and TV, and music are 15.3% up to $7,500 on that same page, not 13.6%. Other rows differ too. A 3D print does not have its own row. Use most categories unless you listed it in one of the exceptions. There is no handmade discount on the page.

None of those fees are permission to sell a file you do not have rights to. If you cannot tell which category eBay will charge, check the fee page while you draft the listing rather than using the 13.6% figure by habit.

Amazon Handmade

Amazon's Handmade page says approved makers and some collaborative groups can sell, and that Amazon uses an application so customers can buy with confidence. Products that qualify are:

  • Hand-altered — a premade item that has been altered, like a shirt or mug with a graphic.
  • Hand-designed — an original design, like an art print or stationery.
  • Handcrafted — made by hand using raw materials, like a hand-carved wooden bowl.
  • Repurposed — an item transformed for a different purpose.
  • Upcycled — an item with improved quality, like refinished furniture.

The page does not mention 3D printing. Hand-designed is the closest official description to a product you designed, and the example is an art print or stationery, not a printed object. Handcrafted, as written, is made by hand from raw materials. A printer doing the layers is not what that sentence describes. You add a Handmade Classification attribute after you are approved. Items in categories the page does not list may not be sold in the Handmade store. The page names Accessories, Artwork, Baby, Beauty and Personal Care, Clothing, Shoes and Handbags, Home, Outdoor and Home Care, Jewelry and Watches, Kitchen and Dining, Pet Supplies, Sporting Goods, Stationery and Party Supplies, and Toys and Games.

On fees, the same US page says the monthly Professional selling fee is waived when you sell on Handmade, that the storefront can be created for free, and that you pay referral fees when you make a sale. For every unit shipped, the referral fee is 15% or $0.30, whichever is greater. A later answer says the monthly fee is waived for approved applicants after the first month. This page does not copy UK or EU percentages. Those sites publish their own.

A discussion on Seller Central asked whether 3D prints the seller designs and prints, then finishes by hand, qualify. A reply from an account labeled Jim_Amazon said 3D printed products are allowed as long as you are doing the designs yourself, and that you should provide enough evidence. Treat that as a forum reply, not as the program page. It does not describe prints of another designer's file, even when that designer offers a merchant license. Put the process in the application and wait for Amazon's decision. The thread is sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/164d0ec7-988c-46a3-a276-40cf326d092a.

Vinted

Vinted's price list, which prints "Last updated: 10/08/2026" on the page, says the Vinted fee is a mandatory platform fee the buyer pays at checkout when they use Buy now. The calculation varies. The page says it usually includes a percentage and a fixed fee, usually 5% + $0.70, and that the total is shown before the buyer pays. Optional bump fees are shown at the time the seller pays for them. The help article "About the Vinted fee" says this renamed the buyer protection fee, that it is not a new fee, and that there are no selling fees on Vinted. Sellers are not charged that buyer fee.

The catalog rules are the part that matters for a print shop. They say standard accounts are for private, non-commercial use, and that you cannot use a standard account to operate a reselling business. A small number of unique handmade items is allowed if the activity is occasional and the items comply with the catalog. The commercial-selling section says standard sellers may list a small number of items handmade for personal use, and may not list items that have been designed or handcrafted specifically to sell. Offering made-to-order or "can be ordered" listings is also barred.

Vinted's UK help for Pro sellers says professional sellers may not offer items they made themselves, and may not offer customization or made-to-order. The commercial-selling help on vinted.com says the Pro program is not available in every country, and that where it is missing, selling as a business is not allowed. A shop that prints objects in order to sell them does not fit the standard-account rule on the page we read. Check the catalog rules on the Vinted country site you would actually use before you list one. The fee numbers above are from the .com price list. Another country can print a different price list.

What to do with a merchant license

Pick the platform only after the listing allows that kind of selling. Then price the fee with how much to charge for 3D prints. A booth is often simpler than a new marketplace account: best 3D prints to sell at craft shows.

FAQ

Can I sell 3D prints on Facebook Marketplace?

Marketplace does not publish a special rule that 3D prints are allowed or banned. You still need the right to sell the design. For US sellers, Meta's onsite checkout terms list a Marketplace selling fee of 10% of the transaction value, with a minimum of $0.80, and say goods shipped together are what the fee is calculated on. A local pickup you arrange and get paid for outside checkout is not given a fee on that page. If your country is not in the table, check the terms rather than assuming the US rate.

What does eBay charge to sell a 3D print?

eBay.com's selling-fees page does not have a separate 3D-print rate. Most categories are 13.6% of the total amount of the sale up to $7,500, then 2.35% on the portion above that, plus a per-order fee of $0.30 on orders of $10 or less and $0.40 on orders over $10. You get up to 250 zero-insertion-fee listings a month, then $0.35. Store subscriptions, vehicles, and eBay Live are different. The total amount includes the item, handling, shipping you collect, and sales tax.

Do 3D prints qualify for Amazon Handmade?

The Handmade program page does not mention 3D printing. It says products are hand-altered, hand-designed, handcrafted, repurposed, or upcycled, and that you apply and get approved. Hand-designed is described as an original design, with an art print or stationery as the example. Handcrafted is described as made by hand from raw materials, with a carved wooden bowl as the example. A Seller Central forum reply from an account labeled Jim_Amazon said 3D printed products are allowed when you do the designs yourself and provide evidence. That reply is not the program page, and it describes your own designs, not prints of someone else's file. The application is where Amazon decides.

Can I sell new 3D prints on Vinted?

Not as a shop, on the pages checked. Vinted's catalog rules say standard accounts are for private, non-commercial use. A small number of handmade items is allowed if the activity is occasional and the items were handmade for personal use. Items designed or handcrafted specifically to sell are not allowed. Vinted's UK Pro help says Pro sellers also may not offer items they made themselves. Pro is not available in every country. Open the catalog rules for the Vinted site you use.

Is this legal advice?

No. This is general information, not legal advice. Fees and rules were read from the platform pages linked below, last checked in October 2026. If a fee is missing here, it was not on the page we could verify. Check the platform.
